Staccato 101 & 102 with Mike Benbow

This 2-day course is structured to introduce you to the 2011 platform, how to maintain it, and how to maximize its potential.

Staccato 2011 Level 1 Fundamentals Course

Day 1 is a level 1 course for current and prospective Staccato 2011 owners who want to develop a better understanding of the 2011 platform, care and maintenance of the 2011, and the fundamentals of employing the 2011. Upon completion of the course, all attendees will possess the skills needed for owning, maintaining, and operating a 2011 pistol.

Staccato 2011 Level 2 Fundamentals Course

Day 2 is a level 2 course for students who want to continue to build upon the skills learned in level 1 and gain an advanced level of proficiency with a handgun. This course will focus on advanced drills to increase proficiency with a handgun including target transitions, reloads, target acquisition, increasing draw speed, etc. Advanced techniques such as shooting on the move and improvised shooting positions will also be trained and discussed. Students will leave with an advanced level of proficiency in multi-target engagements, speed draws and reloads, shooting on the move and improvised shooting positions.

Classes will begin at 8 am at Staccato Ranch: 1275 Co Rd 233, Florence, TX 76527, USA.

Water will be provided, please bring any snacks or specialty drinks you may need or desire (no alcohol allowed before or during training). A lunch break will be provided and will be announced by the instructor.

Dress for range should be comfortable clothing and weather-specific. If it rains, we will still train so bring rain gear if you require it, sunscreen and hats for hot sunny weather are recommended.

We will discuss range safety and rules, discuss the 1911/2011 platform, disassemble and assemble the 2011, discuss carrying options, dryfire, and do static firearms training.

Total class time is around 8-9 hours.

  • Patriot Members – $400 for both days

Required Student Provided Items:

  • Ballistic eye protection
  • Hearing protection
  • Staccato 2011
  • Belt
  • 3 magazines with mag carrier for at least one
  • Holster
  • 800+ rounds of ammunition for the weekend
  • Any item needed for environmental conditions.
Please Note:
  • Base Proficiency Requirement: While this is a beginner’s course, you must have a base level of proficiency. This includes being able to load & unload your pistol and be comfortable learning how to wear and draw from a holster. Staccato 102 will require movement, so you must be physically able to handle some dynamic movement.
  • Pre-Class Check-In: Our training team will be available throughout the week to provide a pre-class check-in to make sure you are qualified. Please stop by the ranch or call our team to ensure that you are proficient enough to take the course. Mike Benbow will be available the Friday before the course to help set up belts, holsters, and answer any questions you have before the class.
  • Limited Space: Space is limited, but we will be offering additional courses throughout the year. If you are unable to secure a spot in this course, there will be more opportunities in the near future to attend a Staccato 101 & 102 course.

Your Instructor:

Mike Benbow

Staccato’s Director of Training Mike Benbow recently retired from the United States Marshals Service as the Tactical Operations Commander for their Special Operations Group (SOG). Mike spent 25 years in the Marshals and 21 years in SOG. During his tenure as SOG Cadre, Mike was responsible for the shooting and entry programs as well as overseeing Tactical Operations.  He participated in and lead missions across the United States and its territories as well as several overseas deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and other counties abroad.

Prior to his time in the US Marshals, Mike served as a uniformed Sheriff’s Deputy, a Narcotics Detective and a United States Border Patrol Agent.

Mike was instrumental in the adoption of the Staccato 2011 by SOG and has 20 years of experience shooting, carrying, and instructing with the 1911/2011 platform. Mike’s passion for all shooting disciplines carried throughout his career and continues today.
