2-Day Handgun Fundamentals for Women with Tes Salb

Overview:

This two-day course is designed for women who are interested in gaining a solid foundation in pistol fundamentals to ensure a successful journey in marksmanship. Participants will receive in-depth training and education on what it takes to reach their full potential on the firing line through in class and on range instruction. Training includes handgun and range safety rules, mechanics and fundamentals of handgun shooting, loading/unloading/reloading, belt setup, holstering/drawing, and an introduction to two different types of handgun competition where students can test their newly learned skills. This course is designed for those who have shot before but never received formal training, as well as for those looking to tighten their shot groups to help them advance to the next level.

Required Student Supplied Items:

  • Properly functioning pistol(no revolvers please).
  • 1000 rounds of ammunition.
  • Eye and ear protection.
  • 3 hi cap magazines.
  • Minimum of 2 magazine pouches.
  • A holster, no appendix or shoulder holsters for this class.
  • Cleaning kit.

Additional Details:

Course will begin in a classroom setting at Staccato Ranch.  Coffee and water will be provided, please bring any snacks or specialty drinks you may need or desire (no alcohol allowed before or during training). Lunch will be provided.

  • 8am start in classroom at 1223 County Road 233 in Florence TX 76527. Follow the signs to our conference room.
  • Total class time is around 8-9 hours per day.

Range portion of training will be at the Ranch at Staccato’s new facility located at 1223 County Road 233 in Florence Texas 76527.

Dress for range should be comfortable clothing and weather specific.  If it rains, we will still train so bring raingear if you require it, sunscreen and hats for hot sunny weather is recommended.

Your Instructor:

Tes Salb

Tes Salb is no stranger to fitness or firearms, having received her start in shooting through the sport of Modern Pentathlon (running, swimming, shooting, fencing, horseback riding) at the age of 12. She competed in the US Olympic Festival at the age of 15 and in 1996, was introduced to the US Olympic Shooting Program where she qualified for the US National Team in International Pistol. During her 12 years on the US National Team Salb earned a berth on the 1998 US World Championship Shooting Team where she competed in Barcelona, Spain. She was also a member of 5 World Cups teams, represented the University of Notre Dame in the NRA Intercollegiate National Pistol Championships earning podium finishes and two First-Team All-Americans, and qualified for the 2000 US Olympic Trials. She has since picked up 3-gun, USPSA, and shotgun sports recreationally and has used her experience to help others enhance their shooting skills for recreation and competitive shooting.

Salb continued her multi-sport training and competitions through triathlons–completing Ironman USA in 2005–and CrossFit where she traveled the country coaching athletes in competitive performance and injury prevention for 13 years. She also founded and ran one of the largest CrossFit Endurance teams in Northern Virginia. She was an instructor for The Tactical Games University for three years focusing on getting women into the sport and has four competitive years of Tactical Games under her belt including 12 appearances and 10 podium finishes (7x1st, 1x2nd, 2x3rd) including the 2020 National Championships. She is the founder of the Armed Athlete Academy where she works with individuals to have the skills they need to be successful on the firing line, in the gym, and in life through mindset training.

Salb graduated with a BBA in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame and has been working in the firearms industry for 23 years. She is currently the Director of Marketing and Communications for HIVIZ Shooting Systems.
